A Dark Secret?

May 17, 2009

Last night, during camp, The orc and elven ranger were taken from the party… by what looked to be a teleportation spell.

We were awoken with a scream and immediately went to follow the source, however due to the incompetent half-elf who completely lacks any self control, we followed a path through an underground tunnel… When regrouping with the lost party members; I noticed that the room in which the two missing party members came from contained a body… an unconscious male elf dressed in a uniform which was very clean and of high quality, the emblems on the clothing where unusual… could resemble a high-ranking militant signet.

When attempting to investigate, Alandi (female elven ranger who continually hides her past) attempted to convince me that it was nothing and that we should move on. I was happy to abide by her wishes, as long as she had a reason worthy enough to ignore a possibly wounded innocent. She asked me to trust in her that we should not investigate because of the danger we could be in… I then asked what happened after she was kidnapped, she could not supply any information.

I immediately went to investigate, however she blocked my path; what could be so important that a truth cannot be told to prevent a wounded creature from being healed? None! there never should be! – I could not will myself to force her aside, however. The mindless brute dwarf seemed to side with me on this and as such moved the un-trusting elf to the side.

If he was infact dangerous, I wanted to know then and there what danger he possessed and why he is here, with the kobolds…. and more importantly, what connection he has with Alandi; there was too much to find out… however I initiated a vote as to whether we should wake/heal him now (under strong holds) or carry him back to town and let the temple mend his wounds and find out the threat that he holds.

Before the vote was concluded, Illaena spoke with me in private, she whispered that we must trust Alandi and that we should leave this place immediately. I know that Illeana has studied for many years under the eyes of the beloved Soaffe, although she hardly knows the ways of priesthood and the holy knights, I may have ignored a higher ranking order member, however I could not resist this new acquisition; I felt as if my past took control, I was unable to hear her words, my discipline failed me. My decision was unchanged.

The vote, was made – the poisoned man (identified by the monk) was to be taken to the temple. It puzzled me how Illeana swayed others her way… there is a great secret which needs to be known…. I will find out, eventually.

For now I cannot trust Alandi, although I will still uphold the ways of the order. It is very strange… her oddly-chaotic elven ways somewhat remind me of my mother…

Yesterday I questioned the motives of only Thok and Lythraell. Today it would seem that I have lost the trust of many; this is a very interesting party, I must find answers, there could well be a spy among us working for the great darkness.

I will rest in the temple tonight, the priests know not of the elf’s identity as of yet… I will make a sketch of the interesting insignia on the elf’s clothing, it could prove useful post-heed.

Tomorrow we will head deeper through the tunnel, I am very anxious to discover the source of this kobold terror and cleanse the den of evil.
